2nd Annual Cookbook

Thank you to the Lions clubs across South Dakota, your assistance with the South Dakota Lions Eye Bank 2nd Edition Cookbook – featuring ethnic recipes from around the world is greatly appreciated. Over the last two years transplant recipients, donor families, Lions and Lioness members have contributed over 400 of their favorite recipes and stories to make this project a success!

Once again we are bringing this proven successful fundraiser to the Lions Clubs of South Dakota, uniting our states Lions and your Lions Eye Bank. Funds raised from the sale of this cookbook will be used to continue our mission: “To enable the restoration of the gifts of sight and health” and the Lions mission: “To serve”.

The cookbooks are available for distribution. Remember that cookbooks can be used as a community fundraiser, earning $5 per book. Please contact Brandy Thompson via telephone at 1-800-245-7846.

Our cookbooks would not have been successful without your participation. We, thank you for your continued support of your Lions Eye Bank and our mission.

Fitness for Sight

5SW Lions Club Hill City and Edgemont hosted Fitness for Sight a 5k/10k walk, run, bike for sight. This was the second year for the newest Eye Bank fundraiser, hosted last year by the Hill City club. Our goal of this fundraiser is to unite Lion Clubs across the state where on a scheduled day each club would host a Fitness for Sight in their community, between the 97 Lions Clubs of South Dakota we could fill our great state with walkers for sight!

The days of fun and fitness in Hill City and Edgemont included over 50 walkers and runners of all ages and many area business sponsors. We are ecstatic with 2nd year of success raising nearly $3,000 for the Lions Eye Bank. Our goal in 2010 is to fill the entire 109 miles of the Mickelson Trail with walkers, runners, and bikers for sight! Once again thank you to everyone involved, please contact Brandy Thompson if you are interested in bringing Fitness for Sight to your community
